Acceptance of vouchers at the cash desk

Means of payment

Smartum Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli (prev. name Kulttuuriseteli) can be used to pay for cultural activities as well as active exercising. Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli is always worth €5 at the cash desk. It can also be used to pay for products at discount prices. No additional fees may be charged. The vouchers are not exchanged for cash nor is any change provided. Sums in excess of the value of the voucher can be paid in cash or by handing in more vouchers.

Checking the voucher

  • Check that the Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli voucher is intact, non-annulled and genuine. A genuine voucher can be recognized by e.g. inspecting it against a source of light: it is printed on watermarked paper.
  • Check the validity of the voucher. Expired vouchers cannot be accepted.
  • Check the identity of the bearer. Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli is a personal benefit. The bearer has been informed that the cashier will check his identity. (Cf. Identification of bearer.)
  • Also vouchers with the Smartum logo and the text "Tutustumiskäyttöön" are in circulation. These vouchers need not be checked!

Identification of voucher bearer

The bearer of Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli can be identified in the following two ways:

  • If the name of the bearer has been marked on the reverse side of the voucher, the cashier can ask to see some identification and compare the names.
  • A voucher that does not carry the name of the bearer can be identified by logging into the Smartum web service with user ID of the exercise facility. There is a form called "Identification", where the serial number of the voucher is typed (without initial zero, spaces or value marking 0400>, cf. image). If the employer maintains an electronic hand-over list, the name of the voucher bearer will appear on-screen and identity can be verified.

In case the bearer turns out to be somebody other than the original recipient of the voucher, it must not be accepted. In case of recurring misuse, we ask you to reveal us the serial number and the identity of the customer for further investigation.

Mark as used

Accepted Liikunta- ja kulttuuriseteli vouchers are marked as used by crossing over the nominal euro sum of €5 printed on the upper left corner of the voucher. During clearance the vouchers are read optically, so nothing must be marked on the white optic area on the lower side.
